[Exposure] Watching that 'Emerald Sunrise' -Ashley-Dominique
Inglewood, CA has its on Sunrise, Ashley-Dominique, born May 18, 1985, Ashley-Dominique has been blessing Long Beach with her philosophical and mentally stimulating flows that are designed with a message for the world. As a child Ashley-Dominique was deeply involved with acting, theatre, dance, music, and softball. When asked of her start and love for music Ashley says “I became fond of poetry around the age of 10, and started free-styling at the age of 15 on Power 106. ‘Whoa Call’. I would be in any and every cypher i could find, I fell in love with the art and music movement. I got inspired to make a difference in my community threw the arts. Free-styling my Poems at a local hot spot called ‘Wades’ (Seattle), it began evolving into rap. I would be there every week and was known as ‘The Freestyle Poet’.”
As Long Beach underground music scene was craving a new face, out emerged Ashley-Dominique rocking every stage she has came across, and grabbing any mic she saw. In 2010 she hosted at ‘The Basement Lounge’ and was brought on by a company called ‘Mass Current’. In late 2010 Ashley-Dominique began booking her own events with her business partners (Nich Schwindt and Eric Spivak of Gorilla Mic ). Now working on their third project “Emerald Sunrise”, dropping before the end of October.

Q. So how did it all begin for you?
A. My brother challenged me to get on the Power 106. Whoa Call, rap competition.

A. The Temptations
Q. Who inspired you and pushed you to become an artist?
A. My Parents, Queen Latifa, Lauryn Hill, Kelis, E40, Twista, Lady Of Rage
Q.How many songs do you have completed?
A. I have over 20 songs completed
Q. When did you consider yourself a professional artist?
A. I started taking my music serious almost four years ago, when my friend Shania D. was working on her album Hip Hop Honey and she wanted me to be featured on a couple of tracks. the feedback was awesome and i haven’t stopped recording since.

A. I’d love to work with Aundre3000 , Jill Scott, Common, Jay Electronica, Estelle

A. A sound thats always progressive, upbeat, scattered tempos, clever, fun, and weird.
Q. What would you tell youngsters trying to break into the business?
A. Stay original, find your own sound; stick with it and perfect it.
Q. What was your most memorable show and why?
A. Performing at this small club in San Diego… it was my first time performing in the city and i didn’t promote that i was going to be there, but the turn out was packed. And i got major love from the crowd. http://vimeo.com/16050986

A. Performing at a major out door festival for a great cause, i’d love to change the world.
Q. If you had one wish, for anything at all in the world, What would
you ask for?
A. To be wealthy enough to take care of my family, and provide for my community.
